Resumo Com a missão de fornecer dados confiáveis para as atividades de suprimento de água nas operações de combate a incêndios de médio e grande porte, o Grupo Tático de Suprimento de Água para Incêndio (GTSAI) representa um braço importante do apoio estratégico do Corpo de Bombeiros Militar do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. Agindo de forma proativa, o GTSAI elaborou o Plano de Gerenciamento de Recursos Hídricos, com objetivo de levantar, dentro de cada jurisdição de grupamento de bombeiros da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, os recursos hídricos que possam auxiliar o Corpo de Bombeiros durante as missões. Para alcançar esse objetivo, por meio de técnicas de geoprocessamento, realizou uma associação com o LAGEOP (Laboratório de Geoprocessamento da UFRJ). O Plano acima citado prevê o cadastro do poder operacional existente dentro de cada grupamento (efetivos, viaturas e equipamentos específicos, juntamente com conhecimento sobre a natureza e condições de funcionamento de hidrantes). Pressupõe ainda um levantamento detalhado das áreas ditas "críticas" (hospital, igreja, escola, indústria química, entre outras), que apoie as ações relativas a desastres ambientais em que elas estejam envolvidas. A área de aplicação definida inicialmente foi o bairro do Caju, sendo a primeira jurisdição a ter o sistema implementado, seguida pelos bairros de Copacabana, Leblon, Lagoa e Catete, que já estão atualmente com suas bases instaladas.
