Os enteroparasitos compreendem espécies que acometem o trato gastrointestinal de seres humanos, causando parasitoses que, dependendo do grau de patogenicidade, podem causar a morte do infectado. Neste trabalho, objetivou-se determinar a prevalência das enteroparasitoses em crianças de 1 a 6 anos de idade, avaliando seus fatores de risco. Realizaram-se análises parasitológicas em 96 amostras fecais, utilizando o método da sedimentação espontânea. A prevalência de parasitoses foi de 40%. Dos parasitos identificados, ocorreu a presença de cistos de protozoários e de ovos de helmintos. Entre os protozoários intestinais, identificaram-se cistos de Entamoeba histolytica, Entamoeba coli, Endolimax nana e Giardia lamblia. Com relação aos helmintos, constatou-se a presença de ovos de Enterobius vermicularis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Hymenolepis nana e Ancylostoma sp. Entre todas as espécies notificadas, Entamoeba histolytica foi a mais ocorrente com 53,5% de presença de cistos nas amostras, no qual prevaleceu em crianças do sexo masculino, com 58% de contaminação. Da amostragem infectada, ao se comparar a contaminação em relação ao sexo, constatou-se que a maior prevalência ocorreu em crianças do sexo masculino, totalizando 63,2%, enquanto que nas crianças do sexo feminino a ocorrência foi de 36,8%. Conclui-se que há elevada prevalência de enteroparasitismo na população infantil e há necessidade de melhorias e monitoramento das condições higiênico-sanitárias locais para promoção à saúde e bem-estar das crianças.
