Este trabalho teve como metodologia a Aprendizagem Baseada em Desafio (ABD), que compreende: 1- identificar grandes ideias/preocupações; 2- elaborar boas perguntas; 3- descobrir e solucionar desafios; 4- adquirir conhecimento profundo sobre às áreas de interesse; 5- compartilhar seus pensamentos/conhecimentos com o mundo. Refletindo sobre uma grande ideia, uma problemática, com a dedicação da equipe para contemplar o que nos desafia, chegamos aos nossos estimados ecossistemas, que enfrentam muitas dificuldades. Refletindo mais um pouco sobre os problemas ambientais, pensamos que, além da água, os resíduos sólidos nos atingem diretamente, seja pela contaminação de solo, do ar ou da água, ou ainda por doenças atraídas pelo lixo depositado em locais inadequados. Após anos de discussões, foi aprovada e sancionada a Lei 12.305/2010 que instituiu a Política Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos (PNRS) e apresentou diretrizes e metas para o gerenciamento integrado dos resíduos sólidos urbanos. Com essa preocupação, nosso desafio foi sensibilizar as pessoas com relação às ações ambientalmente corretas no nosso dia a dia, em suas residências. Elaboramos um questionário para saber o conhecimento e o comportamento da comunidade com relação ao lixo gerado em suas residências. O que pudemos observar é um conhecimento superficial do assunto, menos ainda ações conscientes de que o destino dos resíduos que geramos é nossa responsabilidade. Foi elaborado um formulário e disponibilizado em nosso site, para que as pessoas, visitantes ou não do site, pudessem responder perguntas sobre os resíduos sólidos nossos de cada dia, e o conhecimento sobre os principais pontos da PNRS. Ao mesmo tempo criamos também uma conta no Instagram para divulgar ideias e incentivar ações ambiental e socialmente corretas. Pelos resultados coletados temos ainda uma grande parcela da comunidade que não tem informações sobre coleta seletiva em seus bairros, separação do lixo reciclável e não reciclável. Pouco conhecimento sobre a PNSR, e alguns nem acham esse tema importante. Assim, podemos inferir que a população tem algum conhecimento sobre o assunto, mas falta ação, tanto para a separação dos resíduos, como para se conectar com os recicladores de sua cidade.
Los niños VIH+/SIDA perinatalmente infectados muestran dos patrones de progresión: progresores rápidos (sintomatología temprana de SIDA, supervivencia ≤ 2 años) y progresores lentos (sintomatología tardía, supervivencia 3 ≥ años). En este último grupo se ha identificado una subpoblación: sobrevivientes de largo tiempo (manifestaciones clínicas tardías y mayor supervivencia). No se conocen las características bucodentales de dicha población. Objetivo: Describir las características bucodentales de niños VIH+/ SIDA sobrevivientes de largo tiempo. Material y métodos: 56 niños VIH+/SIDA > 3 años (Clínica de Inmunodeficiencia, Fac. Med. UNAM) fueron examinados bucalmente. En relación a su edad se dividieron en: Progresores lentos (> 3 ≤ 8 años) y Sobrevivientes de largo tiempo (> 8 años). Este último grupo subdividido en preadolescentes (de 8-12 años) y adolescentes (>13 años). Se estableció el índice CPO y el índice de higiene oral simplificado, siguiendo los criterios propuestos por la OMS. La prevalencia de lesiones orales asociadas al VIH (LO-VIH) también fue establecida. (Criterio de diagnóstico: EC Clearinghouse CDC-WHO), se realizó la prueba chi cuadrada (95% de confianza) (p < 0.05). Resultados: Progresores lentos (n = 31): LO-VIH 22.5%, CO 5.15 ± 5.9, IHO-S 1.2 ± 0.4; Sobrevivientes de largo tiempo (n = 25): LO-VIH 28%, CO 5.46 ± 5.3, IHO-S 1.1 ± 1.9. Pre-adolescentes (n = 15): LO-VIH 40%, CO 5 ± 5, IHO-S 1.5 ± 0.5; Adolescentes (n = 10) LO-VIH 20%, CO 6.2 ± 4.8, IHO-S 1.9 ± 1.0. La candidiasis eritematosa fue la lesión de mayor prevalencia en todos los grupos. Conclusiones: Los niños VIH+/SIDA sobrevivientes de largo tiempo muestran alta prevalencia de lesiones bucales y características dentogingivales que justifican un incremento en la vigilancia de su salud bucodental
