A sífilis tem se mostrado reemergente, pois está entre as DSTs que mais tem se disseminado nos dias atuais, percebe--se que a população tem banalizado o uso de preservativos, haja vista o seu alto índice, ato que pode ocasionar a transmissão vertical e revelar falha na assistência voltada para o controle das doenças sexualmente transmissíveis e as gestantes. O estudo teve por objetivo traçar o perfil epidemiológico da sífilis congênita no período de 2011 a 2015, no município de Imperatriz, Maranhão. Tratou-se de um estudo de caráter exploratório-descritivo com abordagem quantitativa sobre o perfil dos casos de sífilis congênita notificados em Imperatriz -MA, coletados a partir de informações geradas pela base de dados secundárias do Ministério da Saúde no Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação (SINAN), disponibilizados no Departamento de Informática do SUS (DATASUS). A amostra foi de 100%, pois todos os casos notificados no respectivo período foram analisados, totalizando 121 casos. Diante dos achados foi possível constatar que a faixa etária com maior predominância de transmissão vertical de sífilis, são mulheres jovens com a vida sexualmente ativa da raça parda. Quanto à escolaridade, são mais frequentes as genitoras que frequentaram da 5ª à 8ª série do ensino fundamental, mas não completaram, e que tinha como ocupação dona de casa. A maioria das mulheres realizaram o pré-natal, e foram diagnosticadas com sífilis através dos exames realizados nestas consultas, porem o tratamento foi realizado de forma inadequada o que resultou na transmissão para o concepto. O perfil dos RN na população estudada era na maioria do sexo masculino, com menos de um ano de vida, e que evoluíram vivos.
