A disbiose intestinal consiste na alteração da composição ou riqueza da microbiota intestinal animal, que pode ser resultado do uso de antibióticos, anti-inflamatórios não esteroidais, supressores de ácido gástrico, alterações da dieta e eliminação recente de parceiros constitutivos; tendo como consequência vários distúrbios gastrointestinais. A composição de macronutrientes e a adição de alguns ingredientes específicos na dieta podem auxiliar na modulação da microbiota e assim, produzir benefícios para o vetor como melhora da saúde intestinal e bem-estar dos animais.
