La siguiente tesis se inscribe en el área de los estudios socioculturales vinculados a las problemáticas de las prácticas corporales en espacios urbanos. La misma gira en torno a dos ejes principales: una práctica corporal -el jugger- y un espacio urbano -el parque Saavedra de la ciudad de La Plata, capital de la provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina-. El jugger es una práctica corporal de origen reciente, frecuentemente denominada deporte alternativo, que se desarrolla exclusivamente en parques de la ciudad y que tiene como protagonistas a grupos de jóvenes. El parque Saavedra, por su parte, es uno de los tantos espacios verdes públicos de La Plata, una ciudad paradigma diseñada bajo teorías higienistas y racionalistas decimonónicas. A partir de una metodología cualitativa y desde un enfoque etnográfico, la investigación de la cual se desprende este documento busca interpretar los modos de uso y apropiación que los jóvenes practicantes de jugger hacen del parque Saavedra. Se procura así reponer la perspectiva de los jugadores, a fin de comprender los sentidos que le confieren a su práctica -en este caso, una no convencional, emergente y potencialmente contestataria de las lógicas del deporte hegemónico- y al espacio en que la llevan a cabo, entendiendo que el espacio y las prácticas constituyen un par indisociable signado por un vínculo de producción recíproca.
