Este artículo de reflexión derivado de investigación aborda, en su primera parte, los orígenes y perspectivas del teatro comunitario, un fenómeno que se evidencia al radicarse en Argentina una época de más de cuarenta años de violencia, con todas las problemáticas políticas, sociales y económicas que traen consigo las manifestaciones del conflicto. En esta realidad se instaura el teatro comunitario, partiendo de la idea del teatro como un lugar de reconocimiento, de redefinición de la experiencia real y reconstrucción de una nueva identidad colectiva, al proponer una comunicación fundada en la relación entre la memoria y el cuerpo. Posteriormente, entendiendo la participación ciudadana como una apuesta política desde y para la población, y luego de un paneo sobre el contexto del conflicto armado en Colombia, se propone la reapropiación del espacio desde el concepto del ágora, por medio de la libre manifestación simbólica de expresiones artísticas por parte de la comunidad con el fin de hacer partícipe a los colombianos de la generación de nuevos discursos y acciones construidos en colectivo, que determinen la reconstrucción de un tejido social para la paz, dándole una nueva significación a la historia por medio del lenguaje artístico, que constituya acciones del presente para el futuro.
