Der hallstattzeitliche Fundplatz Villeneuve-Saint-Germain ,,Les Etomelles", der sich auf halber Höhe eines sandigen Hugels befindet, zeichnet sich durch zwei Wohneinheiten sowie einige Speicherbauten aus. Mehrere Gruben, die den Gebäuden zugeordnet sind, befinden sich in deren unmittelbaren Umgebung. Drei davon wurden direkt in das Substrat gegraben; das hohe Grundwasserniveau in diesen Gruben hat insbesondere Erhaltungsbedingungen fur Makroreste, Pollen und Insektenspuren geschaffen. Weiterfiihrende Untersuchung, die selten durchgefuhrt werden, ergaben ein relativ genaues Bild der Umgebung des Fundplatzes zum Zeitpunkt der Besiedlung. Weiterhin stammt aus der oberen Verfullschicht einer dieser Gruben eine stattliche Ansammlung von Gefässen und Lehm, die die Prasenz eines Ofens in situ vermuten lässt, vermutlich mit Keramikproduktion zusammenhängend. Die beiden handwerklichen Einheiten hatten ausserdem mit Viehaufzucht zu tun, wie archao-zoologische und archäo-entomologische Analysen bezeugen.
