Esse estudo objetivou analisar a maturidade fisiológica de sementes de Angico Vermelho (Anadenanthera colubrina Vell.) em função do desenvolvimento de frutos, a fim de determinar o momento ideal a ser realizada a coleta dos frutos. Os frutos utilizados no estudo foram coletados em árvores nos municípios de Jacaré dos Homes e Monteirópolis, no Sertão de Alagoas. Adotou-se o delineamento estatístico inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições contendo 50 sementes cada. Os frutos foram classificados em cinco estádios (tratamentos) de acordo com a coloração da vagem: estádio 1 (esverdeado), estádio 2 (verde/amarelo), estádio 3 (verde/vermelho), o estádio 4 (vermelho/vinho) e o estádio 5 (marrom escuro). Foram avaliadas as variáveis: largura (cm), espessura (mm), comprimento (cm) e matéria seca (g) de 100 sementes em cada estádio de maturação, e teor de umidade de sementes (%). Através de teste de germinação se verificou o índice de velocidade de germinação, porcentagem de germinação, percentual de sementes mortas e o tempo médio de germinação. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância e as variáveis significativas pelo teste F tiveram suas médias comparadas pelo teste de Tukey (p<0,05). De maneira geral, frutos de angico devem ser coletados quando no estádio 5 de maturidade, pois nesse estádio as sementes atingem a maturidade fisiológica e estão aptas a germinarem.
