RESUMOEsse presente trabalho investiga os traços idiomáticos característicos da performance do baterista e percussionista Dom Um Romão (1925Romão ( -2005, observado no período da música brasileira referente ao estilo denominado sambajazz (década de 1960), quando ainda Romão atuava essencialmente como baterista dentro desse contexto musical. O mapeamento do cruzamento de dados advindos de entrevistas, em conjunto com a análise musical de transcrições de faixas selecionadas de dois álbuns referenciais dessa fase, ambos lançados em 1964: O Som do saxofonista J. T. Meirelles, e Dom Um, primeiro álbum solo de Romão, nos permitiu identificar procedimentos idiomáticos recorrentes com uma abordagem bastante peculiar na bateria, conferindo a Dom Um Romão significativa representatividade dentro da segunda geração da bateria brasileira.Palavras Chaves: Dom Um Romão, percussão, prática interpretativa, bateria, música brasileira.
