We discuss flux tubes in systems with U (1) gauge, and spin-orbit locked SO(3) S+L symmetry. The spin-orbit locking is achieved explicitly in the Lagrangian by introducing a parity violating twist term which causes the spontaneous breaking of SO(3) S+L → SO(2). Additionally, this term causes a spontaneous breaking of the translational symmetry along a particular direction. Thus, the system appears with a cholesteric vacuum under certain conditions of the parameter space. With this term, the system admits U (1) topologically stable vortices with additional structure in the vortex cores. This added structure leads to additional moduli appearing in the low energy dynamics. We determine these solutions and their low energy theory.
We find both analytical and numerical solutions of SU(2) Yang-Mills with an adjoint Higgs field within both closed and open tubes whose sections are spherical caps. This geometry admits a smooth limit in which the space-like metric is flat and, moreover, allows one to use analytical tools which in the flat case are not available. Some of the analytic configurations, in the limit of vanishing Higgs coupling, correspond to magnetic monopoles and dyons living within this tube-shaped domain. However, unlike what happens in the standard case, analytical solutions can also be found in the case in which the Higgs coupling is non-vanishing. We further show that the system admits long-lived breathers.
We study holographic subregion volume complexity for a line segment in the AdS 3 Vaidya geometry. On the field theory side, this gravity background corresponds to a sudden quench which leads to the thermalization of the strongly-coupled dual conformal field theory. We find the time-dependent extremal volume surface by numerically solving a partial differential equation with boundary condition given by the Hubeny-Rangamani-Takayanagi surface, and we use this solution to compute holographic subregion complexity as a function of time. Approximate analytical expressions valid at early and at late times are derived.
We analyze the mechanism of condensation of orientational moduli (as introduced in [25]) on multi-Skyrmionic configurations of the four-dimensional Skyrme model. The present analysis reveals interesting novel features. First of all, the orientational moduli tend to decrease the repulsive interactions between Skyrmions, the effect decreasing with the increase of the Baryon number. Moreover, in the case of a single Skyrmion, the appearance of moduli is energetically favorable if finite volume effects are present. Otherwise, in the usual flat topologically trivial case, it is not. In the low energy theory these solutions can be interpreted as Skyrmions with additional isospin degrees of freedom.
We study vortex solutions in Abelian Chern-Simons-Higgs theories with visible and hidden sectors. We first consider the case in which the two sectors are connected through a BF-like gauge mixing term with no explicit interaction between the the two scalars. Since first order Bogomolny equations do not exist in this case, we derive the second order field equations. We then proceed to an N = 2 supersymmetric extension including a Higgs portal mixing among the visible and hidden charged scalars. As expected, Bogomolnyi equations do exist in this case and we study their string-like solutions numerically. arXiv:1505.06705v3 [hep-th]
