The urbanization process of Brazilian cities has generated several environmental problems, including occupations and irregular uses in Permanent Preservation Areas (PPA). Land use in marginal strips, coupled with vegetation removal, causes environmental degradation, causing instability of ecosystems. For this reason, the present study aims to identify and analyze land use and land occupation conflicts in PPA localized in the urban perimeter of the municipality of Candelária, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The methodology uses geographic and statistical data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and spactial bases provided by the municipal government. Data systematization and maps elaboration were performed in Geographic Information System (GIS) platform. Candelária presents streams that cut the urban mesh and flow into the Pardo River, thus, there are PPAs of considerable size within the urban area. Research shows that there are improper uses in PPA, such as buildings, irregular settlements and agricultural crops. Finally, the results indicate there is significant area under protection in the city being impacted by human action, aggravating the reduction of native forest.
With the purpose of consolidating, in a strategic way, to encourage and to support the local commerce, sports and cultural aspects in the city of Candelária (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil), we propose a study of equipment needs that offer entertainment and leisure to the population, preventing residents from moving to other nearby cities to meet those needs. Favored by the flat topography of the site, the solutions interconnect with the proposal to create a multipurpose track, which would encourage the use of the bicycle as a means of transport, not only for working purposes, but also for leisure, as well as providing benefits of greater road safety and travel speed. For this, the proposed urban equipment and its connections with the multipurpose track are analyzed using geoprocessing and virtual reality features. Virtual maps and three-dimensional models help on exemplification of the proposals, enabling better study of the city’s existing potentialities as conditioning factors of the project.
Urban morphology studies developed from the city configuration are important in order to enable consideration on the needs of the place we live, that is, from the city level, as in a reduced analysis, focused on the neighborhood. Thus, morphological analysis serves to subsidize the actions performed by space producers and enables reflection on the impacts generated with each new building or intervention in the urban space. The object of study of the present work is the morphological analysis of a portion of the urban fabric of a small town of Rio Grande do Sul, which is characterized by residences of the population with highest purchasing power in the city, and also by places that present irregular buildings and illegal occupations. The typological study on the urban form has its focus on the analysis of open spaces and how they dialogue with the built spaces. Maps and analyzes identify the occupation of the territory and the different types of open spaces, whether public or private, green or built. The results show how these open spaces are presented and how they are used within the study area. This work presents a methodology for mapping and identifying the quality of free spaces, which, in turn, is very important to support further analysis in other parts of the city and to understand connections and free space systems within the municipality, in order to provide to public agencies a tool that helps in the planning and qualification of the spaces, both the existing ones, as well as future new spaces.
This article deals with a collective work carried out by the students of the subject "Theory and History of Architecture and Urbanism V" of the Course of Architecture and Urbanism of UFSM Campus Cachoeira do Sul. From the analysis of six school buildings, the synthesis of these case studies in an innovative way in a booklet-fanzine that, in addition to seeking dialogue with the entire academic community promoting discussions among students, teachers and administrative technicians, sought the training of reflexive and autonomous students with the capacity to develop higher cognitive processes ranging from analysis to creation.
