Development of children and adolescents' personality is strongly affected by their parents, and absence of one of them has an undesirable effect on their development, and makes them vulnerable to later psychological disorders and behavioral problems. The purpose of this study was to develop an emotional intelligence training program and to evaluate its effectiveness on increasing emotional intelligence of adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems that living in single parent families. The study utilized a quasi-experimental research method with pretest-posttest and follow-up with control group. The sample of the study selected by a purposive sampling method and 11 students in the experimental group and 12 students in the control group were among the adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems that living in single parent families. This program was offered through workshop which consisted of 10 sessions, two hours per session. The instruments which were used in this study included Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), and Youth Self Report (YSR), and Bar-on Adolescents' Emotional Intelligence Scale. The obtained data was analyzed using Repeated Measures of Analysis of Variance, which showed that emotional intelligence training program could significantly increase emotional intelligence in adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems in single parent families.Participating in the workshop, has led to increasing the emotional intelligence of adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems that living in single parent. Keywords: emotional intelligence training program, adolescents with emotional and behavioral problem, single parent
Introduction:The present study was connected in order to evaluate the relationship between biological, cognitive and psychosocial characteristics of mothers and the weight of infant at the time of birth.Materials and Methods:In order to conduct this research a sample of 910 women among recently delivered mothers of Isfahan province in 2009 were selected. From stratified sampling and cluster sampling according to the percentage of population in each of the cities of Isfahan Province was used. The data was gathered with a questionnaire prepared by the researcher in order to evaluate the biological cognitive and psychosocial characteristics of mothers, in addition to the Enrich marital satisfaction test. After collecting data, the analysis of the data was done with SPSS software in two categories of descriptive and inferential statistics by using logistic regression model. Results:The results showed that the prevalence of low weight infants was 9.5 percent and 38.7 percent of pregnancies was unwanted. Twenty-nine percent of mothers had marital dissatisfaction. 15/6 percent of pregnancies were below 20 years old and 22 percent was above of 35 years old. 38.9 percent of mothers were exposed to cigarette smoke. The average of weight gain during pregnancies was 9 kilograms. Thirty three percent of mothers had high blood pressure during pregnancy, 26.7 percent had history of abortion and 31.9 percent had history of bleeding. 23/1percent of women was employed during pregnancy, 19.8 percent gave twin birth and 21/1 percent of parents were relative of each other, 29.7 percent of deliveries were done in cesarean way. Conclusion:The results of this study showed that severe marital dissatisfaction, abnormal blood pressure during pregnancy, being employed during pregnancy, weight gain less than 5 Kg during pregnancy, pregnancy below the age of 20 can meaning fully increase the possibility of low birth weight in infant (α=0.05). The results were consisting with the previous findings and indicated that some of the applicable benefits of this research can be recording of information about each delivery in the whole country with holding training workshops of before and during pregnancy skills by welfare organization.
Objective Intellectual Disability (ID) affects all aspect of life. Although children with ID have low intelligence, the educational environment, living environment, and relationships with their others, especially their parents, have an important effect on their potential actualization. With regard to the limitations and problems of children with ID in the working memory, it is very important to plan programs to improve their ability in working memory. One of the most important factors in the study of cognitive development and improvement of memory is active participation in the leisure time. Leisure time is an important issue and one of the main elements of human needs in today's life. The use of the rich and proportional leisure time program has been associated with effective outcomes. The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of enriched and proportional Arsh leisure time program on the working memory profile of students with educable ID. Materials & Methods The present research was a quasi-experimental study with pretest, posttest and control group. The participants were 30 female students with ID from exceptional schools in Isfahan City selected by simple random method. Subjects were divided into experimental and control groups, each group consisted of 15 students. The experimental group received 16 sessions of Arsh leisure time program (two 60-minute sessions per week) and the control group did not. The instruments were working memory test battery for children (2001). The obtained data were collected through the scales before and after the training sessions. Multivariate analysis of covariance was used by SPSS (Version 23) for analyzing the data. Results First, the normality of the study variables and contingency of variance and covariance assumptions were tested. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test showed that all variables were normally distributed (P>0.05). Also, the Box test confirmed the contingency of variance-covariance assumption. So, assumptions of MANCOVA test were met and it can be used for analysis of data. The results showed that Arsh leisure time program had a significant effect on the working memory (P<0.0001). The results also revealed that Arsh leisure time program had a significant effect on the central executive, visual-spatial sketchpad, and phonological loop subscales in these subjects (P<0.001). It can be said that according to Eta 2 , respectively 63%, 61%, and 68% of variations in central executive, visual-spatial sketchpad and phonological loop subscales can be explained by the participation of subjects in Arsh leisure time program. Conclusion Arsh leisure time program improved working memory of students with educable ID. So, this program can be used to enhance cognitive rehabilitation of these students in the working memory domain. Finally, the planning for providing Arsh leisure time program for these children has particular importance.
