Nowadays, a descending trend concerning physical activity levels among youth has been recorded, as well as differences between males and females; more than half recorded a low level of the physical activity. The aim of this study was to investigate the social and educational sustainability of physical education and to determine the level of physical activity by using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) short form for Romanian undergraduate and graduate students. In our study, we included students and applied the IPAQ short form anonymously. They gave their consent to use these personal data only for scientific purposes. Overall, two thirds of the subjects (according to the IPAQ scoring protocol) and more than half (according to the World Health Organization recommendation for physical activity) consider themselves to be active. The present study showed that there is a prevalence of insufficient physical activity among Romanian University students (around 40%). The situation seems to be better than in other countries, but in self-evaluation, many people tend to overestimate their potential. To avoid this aspect and gain some objectivity, it is better to use a gadget in order to measure the level of their physical activity.
This study may lead to the identification of elements that indicate trends of women's handball for the period 2005-2015, thus creating the conditions for determining the principles for achieving training and participation in high level competitions. As a result of comparing the data obtained from the analysis performed should be reconsidered the margins of the monitored actions efficiency as benchmarks to be useful in training and competition, by requiring reconsideration model performance handball game at senior level. Because the research covers six editions of the World Championships and analysed data obtained had a high degree of veridicity and which parts may be used for the following competitions.
We investigated the anthropometric characteristics associated with specific handball skills in competition. The body anthropometric profiles differ significantly among the playing positions in handball due to the specific tasks. The aim of this study is to identify the anthropometric patterns for each playing position by collecting data from elite male handball players. To determine the anthropometric profile of the elite handball players for each playing position, we used descriptive statistics for every indicator in order to identify the optimal patterns for elite handball players from the top-four ranked teams at the most important competitions over a period of 18 years (2004–2021). Over time, the anthropometric indices evolved: the average height increased (from 190 to 192.6 cm) but less than weight increased (from 90.5 to 95.28 kg), and these affected the body mass index (increase from 25.2 to 25.67). The novelty of our study is that we identified an anthropometric pattern for each playing position and for all teams in elite male handball. Our study also covered a period of 18 years to give our results more accuracy and reliability.
A good fitness level provides individual ability to perform daily tasks and reduce the incidence of certain diseases. The research hypothesis was that curricular and extra-curricular activities of students performing various physical activities influence the fitness level of the subjects. The study involved 27 students from the study program Physical Education and Sport (2nd year) of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Stefan cel Mare University of Suceava. It should be noted that their academic activities included 9 hours of practical activities per week, and some of the participants are practicing various sports at performance level, which means between 6 and 10 additional hours of training weekly. In light of these results should be performed an weekly physical activity program, which includes exercise sessions to maintain strength and speed indices of the subjects, and exercises to help develop strength and mobility.
The motivation assessment regarding the attendance of physical education classes was known by the survey of 652 students from the secondary school, 345 boys and 306 girls. We used the motivation study survey, where the questionnaire contained 9 questions regarding the activity within the physical education classes and 3 questions containing information about the students. After investigating the students we can say that most are motivated to come to school, participate actively in physical education, are not happy if the lesson is canceled, over 50% sometimes talk to parents about the activity, they do not want another teacher at class, he practices different sports, especially handball and football, besides they want to introduce tennis, and he does not attend physical education and sports classes to diminish the general success or avoid absences.
There are various methods of strength development which are based on different working principles and shapes. The research hypothesis was that by applying a weekly strength development program the students will achieve progress with the tests for muscle groups chosen. The research was conducted during the academic years 2013-2014 (second semester) and 2014-2015 (first semester) and included a total of 32 subjects, girls (2013-2014 - 26, 2014-2015 - 6). For each of the two semesters during the research it was 14 weeks (first and last for evaluations, 12 weeks of the workout program). These differences were particularly visible evidence for deltoids and arms tests, the other two tests values were relatively close (dorsal, chest). The progresses achieved were different, which is why we believe that individual characteristics and composition of groups led to these results.
Physical education in general and sports games in particular offer multiple means by which the physical and mental development of students is achieved. All the means, carefully selected and optimally dosed, put into practice through participative-active methods, have an increased efficiency regarding technical training, educating the motor qualities required by the game, but also important for behavioral changes, the formation of moral qualities -will necessary for any young person to his integration into society. The method of studying the specialized literature allowed us to study specialized works in the field of physical education, the observation method made it possible to observe the attitude of the students within the experiment, the statistical method helped us process the results obtained from a mathematical-statistical point of view, and the method graphical and tabular in presenting data using tables and graphs. The objective of the test method was to ascertain and highlight the evolution of previously established groups of students. The purpose of the research is to evaluate the initial level of development and physical training of students in the 7th grade.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
