Genetic diversity can be investigated early using seed traits, an important aspect of sexually propagated species. In this context, plant breeders aim at the production of new varieties using seeds with good germination and vigor. The present study was thus designed to examine the genetic diversity of a segregating population from a cross between Passiflora edulis Sims and P. setacea DC. based on seed morphological-and physiological-quality responses. Seventeen seed morphology variables were evaluated via digital image analysis, and a germination test and four vigor tests were applied for the evaluation of physiological quality. Data were interpreted by multivariate analysis for the evaluation of genetic diversity. The parents were allocated to distinct groups by the dendrogram structured using Euclidean distance, based on the morphological-and physiological-quality traits. The unweighted pair group method using arithmetic averages (UPGMA) clustering method formed three groups, the first one represented by backcrossing 32, the second by P. setacea and the third by a larger number of genotypes (P. edulis, hybrids and other backcrosses). The principal component analysis showed that the first two components explained 61.32% of the variation. The clustering methods were efficient in the evaluation of dissimilarity of genotypes from a segregating population of Passiflora.

The purpose of this study was to conduct selection, genetic parameter estimation, and prediction of genetic values for 18 S 1 families of guava trees using mixed model methodology and simultaneous selection of traits by means of the additive selection index, multiplicative selection index, and mean rank adapted from Mulamba. All families analyzed were obtained by means of self-fertilization of superior genotypes (full siblings) from the genetic breeding program of guava trees at the Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense. An experimental randomized block design with 18 S 1 families, three replicates, and ten plants per plot was used. A total of 540 genotypes (individual plants) of guava tree were evaluated. Genetic parameter estimation and selection of the best genotypes based on the genetic value were performed using the statistical procedure, from the Selegen-REML/BLUP program. The analyses of the additive selection index, multiplicative selection index, and the sum of rank adapted from Mulamba were also performed under the Selegen program. During the evaluation by the individual BLUPs, families 1, 12, 4, 6, and 8 contributed to most of the genotypes selected for the traits under evaluation, suggesting their significant potential to generate high quality and high yield genotypes. In the selection indexes via mixed models, the multiplicative index showed higher values for genetic gains (74 %), followed by the mean rank index adapted from Mulamba (19 %), and the additive index (2 %).

Torres 2 -UEMASUL Alex Guimarães Sanches 3 -UNESP RESUMO O bacurizeiro é uma espécie frutífera e madeireira, está distribuída por toda a Região Amazônica, de alto valor extrativistas, sendo raros os pomares para exploração da polpa com essa espécie. Diante disso o trabalho objetivou avaliar a influência de bioestimulantes no pré-tratamento de sementes de bacurizeiro e a eficácia desses ao longo da etapa de armazenamento. Para o experimento foram utilizadas 3500 sementes, as quais foram revestidas com uma solução pastosa (talco+ álcool) com os seguintes bioestimulantes: cinetina, ácido giberélico, ácido indolbutírico e ácido indolacético ambos na concentração de 50 mg L-1, além das sementes que não foram envolvidas representando o tratamento testemunha. A germinação das sementes foi influenciada pelos tratamentos de frio e condutividade elétrica demostrando ser sensível a baixas temperaturas e apresentar melhores condições de germinação com alto teor de água nas sementes armazenadas.
