As queimaduras representam um agravo significativo à saúde pública, pois, ocorrem dentre os mais variados graus, muitas vezes com extrema gravidade e risco de morte, necessitando de um dispositivo que auxilie no tratamento das regiões danificadas. Diversos biomateriais são avaliados quanto à eficácia no tratamento dessas lesões, sendo aplicados como filmes curativos. Assim, mediante os benefícios do amido e do Polivinilpirrolidona (PVP), este trabalho tem como objetivo desenvolver filmes poliméricos à base de amido extraído do caroço de jaca com PVP, utilizando a técnica de casting. Os resultados obtidos para os filmes demonstraram a interação entre o amido e o PVP, apresentando boa resistência e elasticidade, além de estar dentro dos limites de espessura de utilização como curativo. A adição do PVP aumentou consideravelmente o percentual de intumescimento dos filmes, porém, reduziu a resistência térmica do material. Deste modo, os filmes produzidos à base de amido de jaca com PVP apresentaram propriedades físicas e funcionais que os tornam favoráveis para serem empregados em possíveis aplicações, como curativo, para liberação controlada de fármacos antimicrobianos, expondo uma alternativa de renovação de baixo custo, uma vez que os curativos atualmente encontrados no mercado são demasiadamente caros.
