Der Herpes zoster ist die Zweiterkrankung nach länger zurückliegender Windpockeninfektion. Die Hauterscheinungen sind einseitig und auf ein Segment beschränkt, was der Krankheit den Namen Gürtelrose gegeben hat. Vor Auftreten des Ausschlags können schon starke Schmerzen oder Juckreiz erscheinen, die zunächst als unspezifische Neuralgie gedeutet werden. Im Kent'schen Repertorium heißt die Rubrik nach alter Terminologie "Zona" (griech. zone = Gürtel). Noch in den neuen Repertorien (Rubriken Herpes zoster in den Kapiteln Auge, Gesicht, Brust, Rücken und Haut) sind -im Vergleich zu anderen klinischen Rubriken -relativ wenige Mittel eingetragen, weshalb sich zumindest beim Zoster des Thorax empfiehlt, die Brust-und Rückensymptome zusammenzufassen. Die Hautrubrik ist mit über 80 Mitteln sehr unübersichtlich geworden. Als eines der wichtigsten Arzneimittel, besonders im Bereich Thorax und Auge, wird schon von Clarke [5] Ranunculus bulbosus genannt. Charakteristisch sind: • • brennender, beißender Schmerz oder Schmerz wie geprellt, • • schmerzhaftes Jucken, • • < Kälte, Berührung, Bewegung, < abends, • • die Bläschen sind oft bläulich oder blutgefüllt, • • Lokalisation bevorzugt links thorakal, • • Frösteln in der Brust beim Gehen im Freien. Die größte Ähnlichkeit besteht somit zu Lachesis muta, wobei ein wichtiges Unterscheidungsmerkmal die Tageszeit-Modalität ist: Während Ran-b. die Verschlechterung am Abend zeigt, gilt für Lachesis die Verschlechterung nach dem Schlaf. Weiterhin von Ran-b. abzugrenzen sind hauptsächlich Arsenicum album, Rhus toxicodendron und Mercurius solubilis.Andere häufig bei Herpes zoster eingesetzte homöopathische Mittel -wie Caps., Canth., Clem., Iris, Mez. -unterscheiden sich deutlicher von Ran-b.
