Unter den Mitwirkenden sind eine kleine achtjährige Klavierspielerin ebenso zu finden wie Laienspielkreise und (angehende) Berufsmusiker.In der beliebten Veranstaltungsreihe "Vorträge mit Schallplattenbeispielen" von und mit Werner Papsdorf -übrigens seit 18 Jahren einmal in jedem Monat ein Anziehungspunkt für Besucher -wird am 13. Oktober um 17.30 Uhr das Thema "Die Wiederentdeckung der alten Musik -Renaissance und Mittelalter" behandelt. "Jazz live" heißt es am 14. Oktober, und es ist anzunehmen, daß die Zuhörer noch in der letzten Ecke des Veranstaltungsraums zwischen den Büchern im Erdgeschoß der Zentralbibliothek sitzen werden. Ist es doch gelungen -mit Hilfe des Jazz-Förderkreises Duisburg e.V. -den bekannten schwedischen Jazztrompeter Rolf Ericson (der jetzt in Duisburg lebt) zu engagieren. Er spielt mit seiner Rhythmusgruppe, dem Lex-Jasper-Trio. Ein für die Bibliothek zwar ungewohnter aber trotzdem -oder gerade deshalb -ein sehr attraktiver Abschluß der Festwoche.Der Jazz-Förderkreis Duisburg e.V. war es übrigens auch, der bei der Konzipierung der Ausstellung geholfen hat. Denn neben der Vorstellung der Musikbibliothek in Vitrinen werden an den Wänden signierte Plakate von Jazzkonzerten in Duisburg, Cover und Fotos der in Duisburg aufgetretenen Jazzmusiker gezeigt.Nach so viel Jubiläumstrubel fällt es fast schwer, noch zwei nüchterne, aber für die Nutzung wichtige Tatsachen zu verkünden. 1.: Die Musikbibliothek beginnt am 11.10. um 11.00 Uhr mit der Ausleihe von CD's, die bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt nur -weil noch nicht in genügender Anzahl vorhanden -präsent gehalten wurden. 2.: Als besonderes -bleibendes -Geburtstagsgeschenk erhält die Musikbibliothek eine völlig neue Einrichtung.

Fortbildungsseminar für Restauratoren in TübingenDas Seminar wurde vom 11.4. -15.4.1988 veranstaltet von der Zentralstelle für Restaurierung von Archiv-und Bibliotheksgut des Landes Baden-Württemberg in Tübingen gemeinsam mit der Universitätsbibliothek Tübingen. Das Seminar bot ausreichend Gelegenheit, das Papierspalten in der Praxis kennenzulernen und selbst durchzuführen.
