PALABRAS CLAVEInvestigación artística, conocimiento, Deleuze, perceptos RESUMENEn muchas ocasiones, visitando exposiciones de investigación artística, o viendo 'exposiciones' en el Journal of Artistic Research, uno acaba preguntándose dónde está el arte en esos proyectos, puesto que tal vez los podrían haber realizado historiadores, antropólogos o comunicólogos y haber exhibido sus resultados en un museo de historia, un museo de etnología o un centro cultural, en lugar de un centro artístico. Sin duda, normalmente son auténticas investigaciones, pero ¿dónde está el arte? Una respuesta satisfactoria al problema de dónde se encuentra el arte en la investigación artística hay que buscarla en la diferencia entre una presentación o display informativo y un auténtico dispositivo para la reflexión. Los científicos sociales producen teoría, información y conocimiento fáctico. Los artistas no producen principalmente conocimiento fáctico, sino que crean dispositivos para la generación de conocimientos. Si se borra completamente esta distinción, el riesgo es tener mala ciencia y/o mal arte, o incluso no tener ni una ni otro. Para construir una argumentación filosófica adecuada a la intuición que acabamos de formular, puede recurrirse a las tesis de Deleuze acerca de los perceptos como el tipo de ideas que los artistas crean, a diferencia de los científicos que crean funciones y de los filósofos que crean conceptos.
La experiencia del arte en todas sus variedades tiene siempre una dimensión cognitiva. También las experiencias estéticas negativas la tienen, muy especialmente en el arte contemporáneo. Éstas pueden estar determinadas por el contenido y o los medios de la obra o por los efectos de la misma. Lo que da lugar a una variada tipología de experiencias del arte con uno o más aspectos negativos. La teoría estética de T.W. Adorno nos proporciona diversas herramientas para repensar esta variedad de la cognición artística. En la medida que se trata de una estética negativa, categorías de la misma como las de carácter enigmático, autonomía, resistencia o comunicación de lo incomunicable, nos ofrecen vías para entender el lugar de las experiencias negativas en el arte contemporáneo y su función cognitiva. Realizamos esta entrevista en una lengua, el español, que no es el vehículo habitual en el que das tus clases en Londres desde hace muchos años. Tampoco es tu lengua de expresión filosófica principal, que es el alemán, lengua de tu madre. El catalán es la lengua de tu padre y de tu infancia en Barcelona, donde aprendiste el español. Además estudiaste con Derrida en París y también dominas el francés. Ser políglota puede facilitar una especial conciencia del lenguaje, así que no resulta tan sorprendente que el lenguaje fuera tu primer gran campo de reflexión. Tu primer libro, La parole donnée (1989), traducido al inglés como The Gift of Language (2000), así como el libro derivado de tu tesis doctoral Das Gedächtnis des Denkens (1991), tienen al lenguaje como hilo conductor. ¿Cómo ves hoy esa etapa primera de tu itinerario filosófico y qué tesis todavía sostienes de esa fase? 1.
