Objetivo: Avaliar se a condição de tutela afeta o desenvolvimento físico e/ou psicoemocional em crianças em um município do estado de Goiás. Métodos: Trata-se de estudo transversal e descritivo, conduzido com 7 participantes, de ambos os sexos, idade de 5 a 10 anos, residentes em orfanatos da cidade. Os dados físicos das crianças foram coletados e analisados através das curvas de estatura e peso em relação à idade e Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC) em relação à idade. Para a avaliação do desenvolvimento psíquico, houve a aplicação da Escala de Traços de Personalidade para Crianças (ETPC). O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa. Resultados: A amostra, com média de idade de 7,9 ± 1,4 anos, apresentou maioria masculina (57,1%). Com relação aos dados físicos, 72% apresentaram altura adequada para idade, 86% peso adequado para idade e 57% sobrepeso e obesidade. Os dados psicológicos revelaram aumento dos parâmetros extroversão e neuroticismo, redução do psicoticismo e normalidade na sociabilidade. Conclusão: Conclui-se que crianças sob tutela em Anápolis-GO apresentam alterações do desenvolvimento físico e/ou psicoemocional.
