Este estudo teve por objetivo descrever as propriedades químico-biológicas dos marcadores químicos presentes na espécie vegetal Pterodon emarginatus, conhecida popularmente como “Sucupira”, por meio de técnicas in silico. Essa árvore é encontrada principalmente em regiões do Cerrado e em áreas de transição entre as florestas semidecíduas de São Paulo e de Minas Gerais. Trata-se de uma pesquisa observacional e experimental. Os marcadores químicos da espécie em estudo foram obtidos a partir de um levantamento bibliográfico com o propósito final de identificar aqueles com a melhor chance de se tornar um medicamento eficaz para os pacientes. Em geral, as moléculas devem apresentar alta atividade biológica aliada a baixa toxicidade. Para estimar isso, uma série de programas de computador foram empregados para avaliar a estrutura, a farmacocinética - absorção, distribuição, metabolismo e excreção -, a “drugLikeness” e a compatibilidade química desses compostos. Esses modelos computacionais são capazes de reduz drasticamente a fração de falha relacionada à farmacocinética nas fases clínicas. Também foi estimado virtualmente em quais receptores as substâncias atuariam, com modelos de interação molecular e o quão estáveis seriam esses complexos formados. Apenas 3 componentes foram selecionados: vouacapano-6 α, 7 β, 14 β, 19-tetraol, geranilgeraniol e α-humuleno. Todos apresentaram alta probabilidade de atuarem com propriedades antineoplásicas e anti-inflamatórias, sendo o α-humuleno o mais promissor, ligando-se aos receptores ativados por proliferadores peroxissomais do tipo alfa e apresentando boa interação entre as moléculas. Dessa forma, abrem-se portas para estudos pré-clínicos, in vitro e posteriormente in vivo dessa substância, para medir a eficácia e a toxicidade de um possível fármaco antes de administrar um medicamento aos humanos.
