Mai) unter George Bozarth, zu der auch einige europäische Brahms-Forscher geladen sind, das Symposion "Brahms und seine Zeit" in Hamburg (26. bis 28. Mai) unter Constantin Floros, die "Brahms Conference" in London (8. bis 11. Juli) unter Michael Musgrave, das Symposion "Johannes Brahms und Anton Bruckner" in Linz (8. bis 11. September) unter Othmar Wessely und der "Brahms-Kongreß Wien 1983" (10. bis 15. November). Es steht zu erwarten, daß von diesen Tagungen lebhafte Impulse für die weitere Brahms-Forschung ausgehen werden. MODERNE BRAHMS-FORSCHUNG IN NORDAMERIKA George S. Bozarth 1983 werden sich Brahms-Forscher aus den USA und aus Kanada zusammenfinden, um die American Brahms Society zu gründen, eine nicht auf Profit abzielende wissenschaftliche Organisation zur Förderung und Verbreitung von Untersuchungen über Johannes Brahms. Diese Gesellschaft plant die Herausgabe einer Reihe von Brahms-Studien und ist bereit, Forschungsvorhaben von internationaler Breite zum Thema Brahms zu unterstützen.
