A case is reported of mild haemolytic disease of the newborn due to anti-Fya (Duffy). This brings to 19 the number of cases of Duffy haemolytic disease recorded in the English literature.

A newborn baby accidentally received over‐heated blood (> 50°C) during an exchange transfusion. The baby developed severe disseminated intravascular coagulation following the accident. The management of the problem is discussed.
