Summary
A rapid, sensitive and reliable neutralization test for rubella virus (RV) antibody has been described. Test readings were made by observing the interference produced by RV infection with tissue hemadsorption of aged guinea pig red blood cells. Test results could be obtained by this method earlier than by cytopathic effect (CPE) readings. They were found to be more sensitive than those obtained by complement fixation tests and comparable to those obtained by CPE neutralization tests.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
