Objetivo: Compreender a percepção de puérperas sobre a assistência, durante o processo parturitivo pelos profissionais de saúde. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo transversal, descritivo de abordagem qualitativa, com 10 puérperas de parto vaginal, com idade entre 19 e 37 anos, selecionada através da análise de prontuário. Os dados foram coletados através de entrevista individual semiestruturada única, gravadas por um aplicativo de celular e usando o critério de saturação dos dados obtidos. A análise deu-se através de análise de conteúdo, com as seguintes etapas: pré-exploração do material, seleção das unidades de análise e categorização. Resultados: Foram realizadas dez entrevistas, as participantes estavam com pelo menos 24 horas de pós-parto, tinham idade entre 19 a 37 anos. Quatro delas foram admitidas antes da fase ativa de trabalho de parto, três estavam entre quatro a sete centímetros de dilatação de colo uterino e três entre oito a dez centímetros. A assistência ao parto, apenas uma foi realizada por profissional médico e todas as outras por enfermeiras. Conclusão: Conclui-se que o momento de parir tem grande impacto na vida da mulher, e os profissionais de saúde devem preservar e garantir seus direitos e autonomia nesse momento único, pois, dependendo da assistência, podem gerar boas lembranças ou deixar traumas por toda uma vida.
