According to De Van, the preservation of what remains is of utmost importance rather than the meticulous replacement of what has been lost. Need based use of unconventional approach is a growing demand in prosthodontics in India. The increasing demands of the patients have led to innovative techniques for fabricating complete dentures. Conventional techniques may provide satisfactory results in most patients but may not be suitable in all cases. Cu-sil denture is one of the transitional dentures which is easy to fabricate, saves time as well as reduces the cost of treatment. These dentures provide a psychological boost to the patients and serve as a viable alternative. They not only promote the alveolar ridge integrity but also help in retaining the proprioceptive ability of the periodontium. This paper presents a case of fabrication of Cu-sil denture in a patient with two teeth remaining in the maxillary arch.

Dentigerous cyst is a developmental odontogenic cyst, which develops by accumulation of fluid between reduced enamel epithelium and the tooth crown of an unerupted tooth. Dentigerous cysts are usually solitary, slow growing, asymptomatic lesions that are incidentally found during routine radiographs They most frequently involve the mandibular third molar followed in order of frequency by the maxillary canine, mandibular second pre-molar and maxillary third molar. Occasionally, these cysts become painful when infected causing swelling and erythema. The cyst is usually small, however, when large, results in the expansion and thinning of the cortex leading to pathological fracture. Radiographic features are specific to the lesion characterized by a well-defined radiolucency circumscribed by a sclerotic border, associated with the crown of an impacted or unerupted tooth. Dentigerous cysts are treated most commonly by enucleation, Marsupialization and decompression of cyst by fenestration. The criteria for selecting the treatment modality is based on the age, size, location, stage of root development, position of the involved tooth and relation of the lesion to the adjacent tooth and vital structure. The prognosis is an excellent when the cyst is enucleated and recurrence is rare. In this article, we present a case of a Dentigerous cyst in an 80-year-old man in the anterior aspect of the mandible enveloping an impacted canine and crossing the midline but with no clinical expansion or discomfort.
Labial ridge undercut is more commonly seen in maxilla than mandible in completely edentulous individuals and it possess a great threat to the final esthetic outcome. Construction of a labial flange in conventional manner might compromise the facial support and muscles of facial expression, limit function, and compromise aesthetics for a better prognosis, an unconventional approach is needed for the construction of complete denture. This case report describes an innovative, economical, nonsurgical treatment option for fabrication of complete denture in a patient with a prominent labial undercut to enhance the facial aesthetics of the patient.
