The article considers the impact of new integrated technologies (mulching, drip irrigation, use of wooden sticks for each plant, use of new biofertilizers in the cultivation of solanaceous vegetable crops (tomato, pepper, eggplant) in regions with a short growing season. The study of new technologies in the cultivation of solanaceae crops in regions of short vegetation period shows the effectiveness of the impact of these technologies on the biological characteristics, economic-valuable and qualitative indicators. New technologies contributed to early maturity, increased yield and quality of fruits, resistance to diseases and pests. New technologies can be effectively implemented in the republic and similar regions of the globe.
The conservation and sustainable use of crop genetic resources are crucial for food security and economic development, and diverse genetic resources are a critical input in the agricultural production process. To conserve the gene pool of vegetable crops of Armenia, the Scientific Centre of Vegetable and Industrial Crops of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia carried out activities to upgrade storage facilities and optimize the existing seed collections. Newly created long-term and medium-term seed collections of pumpkin, vegetable marrow and summer squash reliably conserve genetic resources of these crops and create a base for undertaking genetic enhancement and base-broadening efforts. A database and application of barcodes and QR-code labels facilitate the search of required accessions, making the stored genetic materials more accessible for users and promoting their wider use in breeding.
We studied the impact of biohumus, derived from organic wastes, and Organomix, an organic fertilizer derived form biohumus, the two products of ORWACO, Armenian-Norwegian joint venture, on the growth, development and yield of tomatoes. We studied and estimated the impact of different varieties of “New organic fertilizer, derived from biohumus”and “Biohumus, derived from organic wastes”on the biological and economical valuable characteristics and features of various species of tomatoes.
