The current research deals with special hybrid metal-composite joints (MCJ) which use thin sheet-metal reinforcement with small die-fixed pins (2-3 mm) embedded into the composite part of the joint. This technological trick significantly and positively influences strength of the metal-composite bolted joints loaded in out-of-plane direction. This fact was proved by comparison of pull-off static and fatigue tests results of MCJs with and without reinforcement.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
