AbstrakPemanfaatan tanin sebagai material coating diharapkan jadi alternatif yang lebih aman bagi lingkungan. Tanin diperoleh menggunakan metode ekstraksi ultrasonik dengan pelarut etanol 95% dan dihasilkan rendemen tanin sebesar 4,85 %. Sintesis bio-inhibitor dari waterglass dan tanin hasil ekstraksi daun ketapang dapat digunakan sebagai material alternatif inhibitor korosi pada pipeline. Pembuatan material coating tersebut dengan cara memadukan silika yang berasal dari waterglass dan tanin dari daun ketapang, kemudian dilakukan pengaliran medium korosi pada pipa besi. Komposisi silika dengan tanin daun ketapang yang digunakan yaitu 50:50 dengan konsentrasi waterglass 50%. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan pengaruh formula coating tanin dan waterglass pada material coating menyebabkan laju korosi semakin kecil, yaitu sebesar 171,77460 mmpy. AbstractTannins is expected to be a more eco-friendly coating materials. Ultrasonic extraction using 95% ethanol solvent resulted in tannin yield of 4.85%. Alternative corrosion inhibitors in pipelines was synthesized from silica and tannin. Silica was retrieved from waterglass and tannin was retrieved from ketapang leaves extraction, then flowing the corrosion medium on the iron pipe. The composition of silica with tannin from ketapang leaves used is 50:50 with a waterglass concentration of 50%. The results showed that tannin and waterglass coating produced smaller corrosion rate, which is 171,77460 mmpy.
