Translation does not only translate from the source language (ST) to the target language (TT) because if it is done, the translation results or (TT) will not be accepted by the target language user and will not have the same effect as the source language. This is called the concept of equivalence. Equivalence is a problem that can not only be accepted by users of the target language which is also in accordance with the context of the culture, customs and habits of the local community, but this concept is essentially the result of the translated text having the same impact between the source language and the target language. This article analyzed the concept of theoretical and practical equivalence of translation from English to Indonesian or vice versa. The purpose of writing this article is to reveal the equivalence of translation and at the same time reveal translation errors that often occur in society. The data collection method used in this article is SBLC or free-to-talk (Sudaryanto, 1993). While the data analysis method is equivalent which was also written by the same expert.
Abstract-This research is based on the teaching experience of EFL students in Batam where almost of them are workers from industrial sector. They have little time to read the material and study for the subject since they have to manage their time for both studying and working. By seeing the fact, the researchers are interested to apply one technique that seems appropriate to help the students improve their writing ability called CIRC (Cooperative Integrative Reading and Composition). The purpose of this research is to solve the problems faced by lecturers who teach English especially writing-based subjects in universities in Batam. CIRC is a type of cooperative learning techniques that is expected to provide smart solution for English language learning in university especially among the students-workers type. The research applied the qualitative research by using observation sheet, field notes, and questionnaire. The results showed a good result of using CIRC technique in teaching the writing subject. The finding showed good improvement for both reading and writing where the students' reading were better because they had to read before discussion and they had to discussed how to write the information from their reading into some paragraphs. Thus, CIRC was seen as a good technique for students-workers type where in this technique the students were asked to read and compose about the material given in a small heterogenic group.Keywords-EFL Students, Students-worker, CIRC technique. I. INTRODUCTIONTeaching writing to the students where English is a foreign language (EFL) is not easy. In writing, the rules of writing a paragraph require a comprehensive mastering on the grammar. Students need to have a good understanding on grammar in order to write good and correct sentences. But, mostly students in EFL countries where English is a foreign language, they find some difficulties such as how to arrange the sentence word by word following the grammar and also they have lack of ideas about what to write into their paragraphs. As the result, they did not know how to start their writing. It is acceptable that they assumed writing is the most difficult skill.Writing as the most difficult skill had been stated previously by Richards and Renandya (2002). The context was for students in ESL (English is a second language) or L2 learners. It is also believed that the students from native speaker context found writing as difficult skill to be mastered. Writing as a skill needs reading to comprehend the information. Students who had problem such as lack of ideas would get ideas for their writing through reading. The reading skill is needed to enhance the students" idea broadly. These two skills are closed and related to each other. Through the reading, the students gain their powerful ideas and some background knowledge related to their writing topic. It is believed that teaching writing with reading is an appropriate way to get students" writing better.
Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini mengambil lokasi di Perumahan Buana Impian 2 RW 028 Kelurahan Tembesi, Kecamatan Sagulung, Kota Batam. Di perumahan Buana Impian 2 ada 4 Rukun Tetangga (RT) dengan kepala rumah rangga sebanyak 827 KK. Pelatihan dengan tema mengelola keuangan keluarga pada masa pandemi covid-19 ditujukan kepada warga Perumahan Buana Impian 2. Tujuan utama dilakukan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah untuk memberikan pemahaman bagaimana mengelola keuangan keluarga agar mampu bertahan dan bisa berkembang dalam kondisi covid-19 sehingga tidak terjadi krisis keuangan dalam keluarga. Pelatihan yang diberikan kepada peserta dalam bentuk ceramah dan diskusi membahas permasalahan keuangan keluarga untuk menghadapi pandemi covid-19. Materi pelatihan kepada warga Perumahan Buana Impian 2 tentang mengelola keuangan keluarga meliputi; (1) evaluasi sumber penghasilan, (2) menghitung ulang kondisi anggaran keluarga, (3) gunakan sistem pos alokasi anggaran yang lebih sederhana, (4) utamakan menyisihkan penghasilan untuk dana darurat, (5) melakukan aktivitas-aktivitas produktif, (6) ikut asuransi. Setelah mengikuti pelatihan diharapakan peserta mampu mengelola keuangan keluarga sehingga dapat terhindar dari krisis keuangan dalam keluarga.
Kihon or basic movements are what every karate-ka must learn in practice. This basic movement is a movement where a karateka can start other movements. The purpose of this research is to improve the performance of junior athletes. If the basic movements cannot be carried out properly and correctly, it will have an impact on other movements. If the message to be conveyed is not clear, the students cannot carry out the movement properly. Therefore, a coach must have knowledge in conveying language to his students. The method used in this exercise is the trainer demonstrating basic movements in accordance with basic of the karate standards. Therefore, the coach must be able to communicate with kohai properly and correctly. In addition to linguistics, the trainer must also provide examples of good movement as well. In this exercise the trainer still finds movements that are not adequate in practice, so they need to be corrected and practiced regularly.
Keluarga memegang peranan yang sangat penting dalam menentukan tumbuh kembang seoarang anak. Tidak hanya perkembangan secara fisik, tetapi juga secara mental dan spiritualnya. Demikian juga permasalahan pendidikan sangat ditentutukan oleh sistem pola asuh dalam keluarga. Sistem pola asuh tersebut tidak hanya dikendalikan oleh seorang ayah saja, tetapi peranan ibu juga sagat menentukan arah atau tujuan keluarga tersebut terutama apabila figur seorang ayah mempunyai kesibukan diluar lingkungan keluarga seperti mencari nafkah dan lain-lain. Pada saat seperti itulah peranan seorang ibu akan menjadi pusat dari segala proses tumbuh kembang termasuk dari segi pendidikan. Contoh yang paling sederhana adalah ketika anak-anak tidak dapat mengerjakan PR yang diberikan oleh guru sekolah seperti PR Bahasa Inggris. Tentunya anak tersebut akan menanyakan kepada orang yang berada di rumah terutama ibunya. Karena menghadapi permasalahan yang demikian tetu seorang ibu harus setidaknya mempunyai pengetahuan bahasa Inggris walaupun tingkat dasar Berdasarkan dari kondisi seperti diatas itulah kami melakukan Pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa Pembinaan Peningkatan Ketrampilan berbahasa Inggris bagi ibu-ibu PKK di lingkungan Kelurahan Sungai Langkai Kecamatan Sagulung-Batam. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan memberikan pelatihan dengan cara tutorial yang dilakukan selama 5 kali pertemuan selama bulan Juli sampai September 2019. Selama proses tutorial yang dilakukan pengabdi menunjukkan bahwa animo atau minat dari sasaran program pengabdian ini sugguh luar biasa. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh kedatangan mereka yang selalu antusias untuk menerima materi yang telah disikan sebelumnya. (Kata kunci: Bahasa Inggris, Pengabdian, Ibu PKK)
