The information society model claims that the new information hegemony is transforming industrial society. But is it not the case that the major change has to do with the increasingly greater integration of information and communication into the functioning of the economy and society, in the submission of information and communication to the operative rules of industrial society, in sum, in the commodification of information, culture, and communication? Rather than a ``post-industrial society,'' the period of transition which we are experiencing consists more modestly in the shift from one industrial mode of organization to another mode of industrial organization, that is, from Fordism to Gatesism. Résumé: Le modèle de la société de l'information affirme que la nouvelle hégémonie de l'information transforme la société industrielle. Le changement majeur ne réside-t-il pas davantage dans l'intégration de plus en plus poussée de l'information et de la communication au fonctionnement de l'économie et de la société, dans la soumission de l'information et de la communication aux règles qui régissent la société industrielle, bref dans la marchandisation de l'information, de la culture et de la communication? Plutôt qu'un "une société post-industrielle", la période de transition que nous vivons ne consisterait-elle pas plus modestement en un passage d'un mode d'organisation industrielle à un autre mode d'organisation industrielle, du fordisme au gatesisme.

Major changes in the media worldOnce more in their history, newspapers are facing the challenge of new technologies threatening their very existence. They have had to adapt previously to radio broadcasting and television networks. More recently, the newspaper press has been threatened by the development of the commuter free press. Now, newspapers must find a way to survive the Internet's competition in the digital era.The challenge is technological and economic, but there is more involved. Behind these technological innovations and along with the financial problems lie deep cultural and political transformations. Reading habits and the way people obtain information are changing. Most Twitter addicts are not prone to reading long and complex articles. This is a tendency that was initiated with the success of the daily tabloids, reinforced by radio and television newscasts and, more recently, with free newspapers distributed on mass public transportation sites like the subway. The aim of this kind of media seems to be always to find shorter and faster ways of communication.With the Internet, people do not have to wait for the morning paper to be informed, nor even the next hour for the radio or television headlines. They can get a summary of the latest news on a lot of websites, on their smartphone, their tablet or their laptop. If they want more, they can find it through a quick search on a browser. Countless blogs and wikis have opened access to ever-increasing sources of information. Do citizens wish to participate in a debate on a given question? They can do it through the social media that have considerably enlarged the space of opinion circulation.All these cultural changes have an impact on the news industry and on political life as well. L'auteur présente ici les résultats d'une recherche documentaire sur les formes de partenariats au Québec et au Canada. Il en rappelle le contexte d'émergence et en évoque quelques définitions et typologies. Il s'attarde tout particulièrement sur les partenariats dans le secteur de l'enseignement supérieur. Il s'interroge finalement sur le sens et les fonctions des partenariats en tant que stratégies politiques, économiques et sociales dans des sociétés qu'on qualifie plus ou moins proprement de sociétés de l'information, sociétés du savoir ou sociétés en réseaux.
