<p><strong>Objetivo: </strong>determinar la asociación entre el índice de desarrollo humano en la población potosina con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (dm2) atendida en unidades de medicina familiar.<strong> Métodos:</strong> estudio transversal y de asociación cruzada. Para la creación de la base de datos se tomaron en cuenta los registros oficiales de prevalencia de<strong> </strong>dm2 en pacientes mayores de 20 años atendidos en consulta externa de 30 unidades de medicina familiar de la delegación San Luis Potosí, México, del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social. El índice de desarrollo humano (idh) del estado de San Luis Potosí se obtuvo a través de los datos publicados por el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo. Se aplicó estadística descriptiva e inferencial con el coeficiente de correlación de Spearman, así como regresión lineal múltiple. Para los análisis estadísticos se utilizó el programa stata v.<strong> </strong>12.<strong> Resultados:</strong> se encontró una asociación significativa entre el<strong> </strong>idh alto y la prevalencia de dm2 (p=0.0016), esta asociación es directamente proporcional entre ambas variables. <strong>Conclusiones:</strong> se determinó que el<strong> </strong>idh no es solo una medida útil para evaluar el desarrollo económico, en salud o educación, sino que es también una variable íntimamente asociada a la prevalencia de<strong> </strong>dm2 para los municipios analizados.</p>
Objetivo: evaluar la aptitud clínica para el manejo de crisis hipertensivas en un grupo de médicos familiares. Métodos: se realizó un estudio de intervención, cuasiexperimental, longitudinal y prospectivo en 37 especialistas en Medicina Familiar (emf), de la consulta externa y atención médica continua, de los tres turnos en una unidad de medicina familiar (umf) de San Luis Potosí, México. La estrategia consistió en ocho sesiones distribuidas en dos meses se aplicó un instrumento para medir la aptitud clínica en el manejo de crisis hipertensiva (Cronbach 0.95) pre y pos intervención, y se analizaron variables sociodemográficas, así como el estilo de aprendizaje con el test de Felder y Honey-Alonso. Resultados: de los 37 médicos estudiados, 67.6% (25) contaba con certificación vigente, el resto 32.4% (12), no estaba certificado. Existió un cambio positivo significativo en el nivel de competencia posterior a la estrategia (p=<0.05), así como una correlación relevante entre este último y la presencia de certificación del emf y el estilo de aprendizaje reflexivo y teórico del test de Honey-Alonso (p=<0.05). Conclusiones: una estrategia de aprendizaje constructivista mejoró la aptitud clínica en el manejo de crisis hipertensivas en un grupo de médicos familiares.
