Resumo: O artigo analisa os deputados federais brasileiros eleitos em 2014 com foco nos "Cabeças do Congresso", isto é, naqueles parlamentares indicados pelo Departamento Intersindical de Assessoria Parlamentar (DIAP) como os mais atuantes na 55ª legislatura (2015)(2016)(2017)(2018). Considerando o mapeamento elaborado pelo DIAP como um indicador indireto de relevância e de influência no Legislativo, este estudo investiga primeiramente a relação entre ser ou não ser um "Cabeça" do Congresso Nacional e a ambição política do deputado (se progressiva, estática ou regressiva) e, em seguida, se esse maior capital político se traduz em vantagens competitivas nas disputas eleitorais subsequentes (2016, 2018 e 2020). Testes de independência Qui-Quadrado mostraram que há associação entre tipo de ambição e capital político nas eleições gerais de 2018 (p < 0,001) e municipais de 2020 (p < 0,031), mas não nas eleições municipais em 2016 (p < 0,450). Os testes de risco relativo e razão de chance revelaram que não há efeito positivo entre ser classificado como uma liderança política do Congresso Nacional e bom desempenho eleitoral para o grupo estudado.
