O presente artigo visa a investigar as unidades fraseológicas com zoônimos (UFz), em dicionários bilíngues escolares. As UFz são expressões populares que carregam nome de animais em suas composições, como por exemplo, ser uma anta, ser cachorro sem dono. Tomamos por base a Metalexicografia que investiga a elaboração de dicionários e a Fraseologia que tem como objeto de estudo as unidades fraseológicas (UF). De acordo com ORTIZ ÁLVAREZ (2000), as unidades que compõem a fraseologia expressam imagens do mundo real, experiências cotidianas que denotam a sabedoria de um povo, tornando-se um importantíssimo veículo de identidade e de cultura. Seguindo as UFz de A à Z, presentes no corpus de estudos de Budny (2015), utilizamos a ferramenta Google para buscar abonações em português, ou seja, exemplos, contextos de uso para contribuir com o banco de dados que está sendo elaborado. Justificamos a necessidade desse estudo para encontrar exemplos que possibilitem melhor entendimento dos significados das UFz para estrangeiros que aprendem nossa língua e que nem sempre conseguem entender os significados das expressões se não forem devidamente exemplificadas e também para usuários que precisam verter do português para o inglês essas expressões, que têm significados peculiares. Diante disso esperamos contribuir para a melhoria da organização de dicionários na contextualização das UFz.
