Retomando los aportes y reflexiones surgidas en el marco del foro homónimo, celebrado en octubre de 2020, en el texto se aborda la pertinencia de la cartografía participativa en diferentes contextos de disputa, despojo o reivindicación territorial que se viven en la región latinoamericana, sobre todo por el modelo extractivo neoliberal que impera en sus economías. Se hace énfasis en los procesos seguidos por los cinco colectivos participantes para la elaboración de materiales didácticos y su implementación. Esto permite entender que las guías, cartillas y manuales sirven en primer lugar como herramientas de sistematización de experiencias que cumplen un papel de mediación práctica, pedagógica y política en la reivindicación y la construcción de territorialidades diversas, contrahegemónicas o en resistencia. En segundo lugar, se convierten en instrumentos de transmisión de conocimientos tanto en el ámbito universitario, facilitando la incorporación de nuevas generaciones a este enfoque crítico y popular de la cartografía, como hacia otros sectores o territorios en contextos similares. Finalmente, evidenciamos algunos de los retos éticos y pedagógicos de estos materiales de elaboración colectiva que, más que un producto de difusión, fungen como dispositivos de diálogo y reflexión desde y para la acción territorial.
Las conversaciones sobre la pandemia de COVID-19 giran especialmente alrededor de asuntos epidemiológicos y a manera de motivar otras conversaciones, las autoras proponen la construcción de paisajes de esperanza. Este artículo es producto de las conversaciones realizadas por las autoras en el espacio Investigaciones Habla, donde se entretejieron ideas, pensamientos, herramientas que permitieran ver desde la geografía, la cartografia, los mapas y los colores, las distintas formas en que se contruyen las ciudades y las sociedades con sus inequidades, los cordones de miseria y los valores como el respeto por la vida, la dignidad del trabajo, las responsabilidades con las especies y la calidad del aire.
Situada en la ciudad de San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas, la investigación tuvo el objetivo de desarrollar un Sistema de Información Geográfica Participativo, que permitiera conocer qué problemas ambientales perciben diferentes tipos de actores en la ciudad, desde un enfoque territorial y de la geografía humana. Se diseñó por tanto una metodología mixta que permitiera trabajar con información cualitativa, pero a la vez fuera pertinente para la escala de la ciudad. Así, a través de cartografía participativa se trabajó con ciudadanía en general, organizaciones sociales y sector gubernamental municipal encargado de temas territoriales o ambientales. Los resultados fueron integrados en un SIGp por medio del cual se generaron contrastes y complementariedades entre percepciones de los diferentes actores, así como con información cartográfica complementaria, como planes de ordenamiento territorial. La metodología mostró su utilidad para identificar zonas prioritarias, temas clave y potenciales sinergias entre actores para una mejor incidencia en materia ambiental.
