Resumo: O turismo colaborativo é uma prática cujo foco é a troca do custo da viagem pela prestação de algum tipo de serviço oferecido pelo viajante. Essa troca tem se tornado cada vez mais comum em pequenos empreendimentos hoteleiros como os hostels. O objetivo deste estudo é analisar o turismo colaborativo em hostels, tendo em vista identificar o perfil dos turistas voluntários e dos hostels, bem como vantagens e desvantagens dessa atividade para ambos. Para isso, observou-se como essa modalidade se manifesta particularmente em hostels na cidade de Curitiba/PR, onde foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas com gestores e volunturistas. O estudo caracterizase como exploratório e qualitativo, foram realizadas entrevistas com gestores e volunturistas. Os resultados demonstraram a predominância de viajantes jovens que valorizam a experiência e acreditam que essa troca traz benefícios que poderão ser aproveitados em âmbitos profissionais. Além de valer-se dessa oportunidade para aperfeiçoar outro idioma. Por outro lado, observou-se a dificuldade dos hostels a respeito da necessidade de treinamento constante dos voluntários. Por fim, propõe-se algumas soluções para assegurar trocas mais seguras e bem-sucedidas para ambos.
