ApresentaçãoNo presente artigo buscamos apresentar o conceito de reificação desenvolvido por Axel Honneth. Segundo o autor (2008), o conceito de reificação, da forma que foi apropriado e resignificado, tanto pela tradição marxista, quanto por outras correntes de pensamento, fez com que se perdesse de vista aspectos importantes para o entendimento da ideia de individualidade -no sentido moderno do termo. A esse conceito atribui-se recorrentemente " [...] desenvolvimentos equívocos ou patologias no modo de pensar e agir dos sujeitos socializados" (Honneth, 2008, p.69).Apresentamos a reflexão de Honneth sobre como seria possível viabilizar uma tomada de posição teórica que contemplaria, necessariamente, essa condição deletéria como um caminho intermediário, que precisaria ser ultrapassado para a edificação de relações sociais possíveis. Em seu limite, ela conduz a coisificação e ambivalência da realidade social. Por outro lado, mesmo a instrumentalização dos seres humanos somente é possível por que são as habilidades humanas dos instrumentos que usamos e não seu aspecto coisal que a capacitaria como um meio para a ação social bem sucedida (Honneth, 2008).Ao enfatizarmos a dimensão da intersubjetividade e do conflito como constituintes de um processo em direção a modos plurais de existência, seguimos as intuições do autor em apresentar o conceito de reificação como o esquecimento dessa condição elementar de reconhecimento intersubjetivo e da consequente pluralidade do mundo social (Honneth, 2007).Exploramos esse conceito sobre um conjunto de elementos filosóficos que atualizam a teoria social de um dos mais célebres e clássicos pensadores das humanidades: George W. Friedrich Hegel. Em vez de propormos discutir sua elaborada reflexão filosófica, da qual Axel Honneth refere-se como tributário,
