Latin America has passed through a very fast urbanization process and, currently, it is estimated that 79,5% of the population lives in urban centers (CEPAL, 2017), with growth tendency in small and medium cities. The challenges faced by the authorities are related to offering high quality infrastructure to maintain a pattern of life according to human rights to all inhabitants. The urbanization models in discussion about environmental challenges faced by cities and their infrastructure are topics that must be considered when defining a solution to a sustainable development that follows the accelerated growth of technologies and access to information. Thus, the present paper aims to make a general analysis of the urban infrastructure models of Latin American cities as parameters to a sustainable development, in order to help in the spread of information in the academic community as well as for the public managers. It is observed that, according to good operational results, efficient financial management and expenditure restraint, according to CAF Annual Report (2018), the Latin Americans may have access to investments in order to achieve interventions in the infrastructures of education, security, access to energy, connectivity and mobility.
