La pandemia por SARS-CoV-2 ha traído consigo tanto inconmensurables daños a la humanidad como incontables interrogantes clínicas y fisiopatológicas en el ámbito médico, siendo las afecciones mucocutáneas algunas de las más visibles, pero de las menos estudiadas. En el presente artículo presentamos una revisión bibliográfica que comprende los hallazgos histopatológicos publicados en 70 artículos concernientes a dermatosis asociadas a la COVID-19, entre los que destacan dos patrones principales: aquél secundario a vasculopatía trombótica y el asociado a infiltrado inflamatorio mixto inespecífico. Sin lugar a duda, es necesario ahondar más en la posibilidad de que dichos hallazgos sean traducibles en factores pronósticos y terapéuticos para los pacientes afectados.
