Os objetivos deste trabalho foram a) realizar algumas reflexões a respeito da Cadeia Solidária das Frutas Nativas (CSFN), rede de comércio estabelecida no estado do Rio Grande do Sul no sentido de compreender suas contribuições à Segurança Alimentar e Nutricional; b) estabelecer algumas problemáticas enfrentadas pelos agentes que compõem a cadeia. Utilizou-se de entrevistas e revisão bibliográfica para a coleta de dados. A importância da Cadeia Solidária das Frutas Nativas, mais do que apenas econômica, é também social, dado que contribui para preservar a biodiversidade local, estimular a produção para o autoconsumo nas unidades de produção, fomentar a produção de alimentos de qualidade e fornecer uma possibilidade que auxilie na reprodução social destes agricultores. Dentre as problemáticas enfrentadas pelos agricultores e pelo CETAP (Centro de Tecnologias Alternativas Populares), organização não governamental dedicada à assessoria e operação da CSFN (objetivo b), destacam-se as questões relacionadas ao manejo técnico, legalização das agroindústrias e certificação para produção agroflorestal.
No âmbito do programa de compensação ambiental da duplicação da BR 116, as comunidades Mbyá Guarani, acampadas nas margens desta rodovia, reconquistaram terras, oito áreas de antigas fazendas na região Sul do Estado do Rio Grande Sul entre Guaíba e Pelotas. Frente às condições de degradação ambiental e erosão ecológica dessas áreas, uma das grandes prioridades das lideranças é restaurar condições de vegetação e fauna mais favoráveis à produção e reprodução física e cultural das comunidades, com maior biodiversidade, alimentos, caça, pesca, lenha, matérias primas para construção e artesanato... Com este objetivo, o presente relato apresenta a experiência de transplante de mudas de Capim Santa Fé (Panicum prionites) nas áreas reconquistadas, como forma de adquirir autonomia para a construção das casas, assim como, resgatar tradições culturais e conhecimentos ancestrais. A coleta das mudas foi realizada em 2018 na área da estação experimental da UFRGS no município de Eldorado do Sul/RS e em 2019 em duas áreas quilombolas em Canguçu/RS e Viamão/RS. No primeiro ano a experiência permitiu conhecer melhor a planta e as técnicas adequadas para o plantio. No segundo ano, além de aprimorar este conhecimento, a experiência proporcionou trocas de conhecimentos e saberes entre comunidades de etnias diferentes, mas com características de luta e sobrevivência parecidas.
