X-RayPowder Diffraction Patterns of the Quaterphenyls and Some Quinque-and Sexi-phenyls By C. Toussaint and G. VosThe X-ray powder diffraction patterns of the nine quadriphenyls, one methyl-substituted quadriphenyl, twelve quinquephenyls. and twelve sexiphenyls are reported for their value in the identification of these compounds. A Guinier-de Wolff quadruple focusing camera and chromium KoI radiation were employed. The intensities were measured using a photometer. The identification of these compounds in their mixtures is discussed.POLYPHENYLS are formed from the terphenyls used as coolants in nuclear reactors. Powder diffraction data on the isomers of terphenyl have been published.lS2 Crystal-structure studies have been reported for the quadriphenyl (5) and 1,3,5-triphenylbenzene (8) .495
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
