Durch Umsatz von [Ni(NH3)4] (SCN)2 mit KPH2 in flüss. NH3 wurde Ni(PH2)2 · xNH3 als unlösliches Reaktionsprodukt erhalten. Bei −78°C beginnt es bereits NH3 und geringfügig PH3 und bei ≥ −45°C auch H2 abzuspalten. Es löst sich in flüss. NH3 bei Zusatz von KPH2 unter Bildung eines Komplexsalzes K[Ni(PH2)3], das durch Umsatz von [Ni(NH3)6]Cl2 mit 3 Åquivalenten KPH2 als Ammoniakat gewonnen werden konnte und in einer orangeroten, einer grünen und einer schwarzen Form existiert. Beim Erwärmen werden NH3, PH3 und H2 abgespalten.
Die Existenz von Mn(PH2)2 · 3 NH3 (III) und K2[Mn(PH2)4] · 2 NH3 (IV) konnte bewiesen werden. III spaltet beim thermischen Abbau im N2‐Strom nur NH3 und PH3, IV außerdem H ab. III und IV werden mit Ni(PH2)2 · xNH3 und K[Ni(PH2)3] · xNH3 verglichen (unterschiedliches Verhalten).
