Glutamate pyruvate transaminase (GPT), esterase D (ESD), glyoxalase I (GLO) and phosphoglucomutase 1 (PGM1) were studied on red cells from unrelated individuals from Porto district (Portugal). The allele frequencies found were: GPT1 = 0.49; GPT2 = 0.50; GPT3 = 0.002; GPT1M = 0.008; ESD1 = 0.83; GLO1 = 0.43; PGM1 = 0.76. These findings are discussed in the context of other European populations.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
