Umsetzen von Adamantan (I) mit Iodoform unter den Bedingungen der Phasentransferkatalyse führt in literaturbekannter Weise zu einem Gemisch aus 1‐Diiodmethyladamantan und dem Tricyclodecan (II), das als Vorstufe bei einigen Adamantansynthesen auftritt.
