The y-radiolysis of low concentrations of neopentane in liquid cyclo-C,H,, and C2H6 at 0.25 g ml-I density leads to methane yields much greater than expected from the mixture compositions. In cyclo-C6H12, n-C6HI4, cyc10-C6H11CH3, and 3-methylpentane the yields are much less thanexpected. Theeffect is explained in terms of positive ion scavenging which is enhanced by added electron scavengers. The efficiency of scavenging by C(CD,), in C2H6 is equal to that of ND,. The efficiency in cyclo-C,H,, is less than that in CZH6 but is greater than that observed previously in this solvent.La radiolyse-y, a faible concentration de nkopentane dans le cyclopentane et C2H6 a une densite de 0.25 g ml-I, conduit a des rendements en methane nettement plus grands a ceux prevus d'apres les compositions du melange. Les resultats sont expliques par le piegage des ions positifs qui est augment6 par I'adjonction d'agents piegeurs electroniques. L'efficacite du pikgage par C(CD,), dans C2H6 est la meme que celle de ND,. L'efficacite dans le cyclohexane est moindre que dans C2H6 mais plus grande que celle observee prkcedemment dans ce solvant.
