We investigate modifications to the k ⊥ -clustering jet algorithm which preserve the advantages of the original Durham algorithm while reducing non-perturbative corrections and providing better resolution of jet substructure. We find that a simple change in the sequence of clustering (combining smaller-angle pairs first), together with the 'freezing' of soft resolved jets, has beneficial effects.

We report the observation of a narrow charmoniumlike state produced in the exclusive decay process B+/--->K+/-pi(+)pi(-)J/psi. This state, which decays into pi(+)pi(-)J/psi, has a mass of 3872.0+/-0.6(stat)+/-0.5(syst) MeV, a value that is very near the M(D0)+M(D(*0)) mass threshold. The results are based on an analysis of 152M B-Bmacr; events collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance in the Belle detector at the KEKB collider. The signal has a statistical significance that is in excess of 10sigma.

The four LEP collaborations, ALEPH, DELPHI, L3 and OPAL, have searched for the neutral Higgs bosons which are predicted by the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). The data of the four collaborations are statistically combined and examined for their consistency with the background hypothesis and with a possible Higgs boson signal. The combined LEP data show no significant excess of events which would indicate the production of Higgs bosons. The search results are used to set upper bounds on the cross-sections of various Higgs-like event topologies. The results are interpreted within the MSSM in a number of "benchmark" models, including CP-conserving and CP-violating scenarios. These interpretations lead in all cases to large exclusions in the MSSM parameter space. Absolute limits are set on the parameter tan β and, in some scenarios, on the masses of neutral Higgs bosons.

We report the observation of the decay mode B(+/-) --> p(-)pK(+/-)based on an analysis of 29.4 fb(-1) of data collected by the Belle detector at KEKB. This is the first example of a b-->s transition with baryons in the final state. The p(-)p mass spectrum in this decay is inconsistent with phase space and is peaked at low mass. The branching fraction for this decay is measured to be B(B+/--->p(-)pK+/-) = [4.3(+1.1)(-0.9)(stat)+/-0.5(syst)]x 10(-6). We also report upper limits for the decays B(0)-->p(-)pK(S) and B(+/-)-->p(-)p pi(+/-).

We report on a search for new resonant states in the process gamma gamma --> DD. A candidate C-even charmonium state is observed in the vicinity of 3.93 GeV/c2. The production rate and the angular distribution in the gamma gamma center-of-mass frame suggest that this state is the previously unobserved chi(c2)', the 2(3)P2 charmonium state.

Weak isosinglet Neutral Heavy Leptons (ν m ) have been searched for using data collected by the DEL-PHI detector corresponding to 3.3 × 10 6 hadronic Z 0 decays at LEP1. Four separate searches have been performed, for short-lived ν m production giving monojet or acollinear jet topologies, and for long-lived ν m giving detectable secondary vertices or calorimeter clusters. No indication of the existence of these particles has been found, leading to an upper limit for the branching ratio BR(Z 0 → ν m ν) of about 1.3 × 10 −6 at 95% confidence level for ν m masses between 3.5 and 50 GeV/c 2 . Outside this range the limit weakens rapidly with the ν m mass. The results are also interpreted in terms of limits for the single production of excited neutrinos.

We perform a full amplitude analysis of B 0 → ψ ′ K + π − decays, with ψ ′ → µ + µ − or e + e − , to constrain the spin and parity of the Z(4430) −. The J P = 1 + hypothesis is favored over the 0 − , 1 − , 2 − and 2 + hypotheses at the levels of 3.4σ, 3.7σ, 4.7σ and 5.1σ, respectively. The analysis is based on a 711 fb −1 data sample that contains 772 × 10 6 BB pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance by the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e + e − collider KEKB.
