Ankie Koeberg-Telder et al. / The structure of some overcrowded potassium polymethylbenzenesuyonates Red. Trav. Chim. Pays-Bas 106, 142-150 (1987) Abstract. The crystal structures of the dipotassium tetramethylbenzene-1,2-(lb), -1,3-(2b) and -1 ,4-disulfonate (4b) have been determined. The overcrowding of the six substituents in the three isomers is reflected in the puckering of the benzene rings (the degree of which increases in the order 2b < 4b < lb) and, to some extent, in the somewhat greater lengths of the C-CH, and C -S bonds (as compared to those in dipotassium 2,4,6-trimethylbenzene-1,3-disulfonate (3b), a compound which allows a larger bond-angle deformation of the benzene ring).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
