Existem inúmeras aplicações clinicas de EEG em Neurologia, e uma delas é o estudo dos estados de consciência alterados, que pode fornecer informações decisivas para o manejo em UTIs, ainda mais, quando utilizadas em conjunto com escalas clínicas estabelecidas [4]. Possuindo uma alta relevância no diagnóstico e prognóstico em estados que podem provocar morte encefálica [5]. Um dos grandes desafios do uso do EEG na UTI é o ruído, esses são considerados potenciais registrados que não tem origem no cérebro. Existem basicamente dois tipos de ruído, os fisiológicos, aqueles que tem origem em outras atividades provenientes do corpo do paciente sendo examinado, e os não fisiológicos, que proveem de fontes externas ao corpo do paciente, como campos eletromagnéticos ou distúrbios da rede elétrica. [6] Apesar de comumente os exames de EEG serem realizados em baixa frequência (0 -35 Hz), estudos como [2] demonstram a capacidade da coleta em frequências mais altas, vindo de encontro os ritmos Gama e Supergama. A utilização desses ritmos na UTI exige contornar o desafio do ruído, porém os autores do artigo desconhecem trabalhos na literatura que investigam esse assunto [7,8].Nesta linha de raciocínio, este artigo tem como objetivo comparar dois registros de EEG em coma, um coletado na faixa de frequências de 1 a 100 Hz e o outro coletado na faixa 1 -35 Hz, ambos coletados na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Adulto do Hospital de Clínicas da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UTIA HCU-UFU) e compara-los com dois grupos distintos de gravações EEG: controle e coma. Materiais e métodosA metodologia foi seccionada em partes para explicar as etapas adotadas na realização desse projeto. E a realização do mesmo foi autorizada pelo Comitê de ética em pesquisa (CEP) da UFU sob número 54781615.6.0000.5152. Coleta de dados paciente:
A primeira descrição dos PEATEs em seres humanos foi feita em 1971 por Jewett e Winston [2]. Eles perceberam que a resposta à estímulos sonoros do tipo click era composta por diversas deflexões positivas e negativas que foram numeradas de I a VII. Atualmente estas ondas são conhecidas como "ondas de Jewett".As ondas de Jewett são decorrentes da ativação do nervo auditivo (ondas I e II) e de estruturas anatômicas do tronco encefálico, como os núcleos cocleares (onda III), complexo olivar superior (onda IV), lemnisco lateral e colículos inferiores (onda V), colículos inferiores e corpo geniculado medial (ondas VI e VII) [3]. A ausência de uma ou mais ondas e as diferenças no tempo (latência) e na amplitude de cada deflexão podem indicar disfunções auditivas e/ou neurológicas e, dependendo de onde esta diferença foi encontrada, pode-se inferir a estrutura anatômica que apresentou alteração em sua resposta normal. Por tratar-se de uma metodologia objetiva, o PEATE possibilita a detecção e diagnóstico de disfunções do sistema auditivo de forma rápida e é de fácil aplicação em clínicas e hospitais.Estudos ([4], [5] e [6]) demostram que a resposta ao PEATE em homens e mulheres pode apresentar diferenças nas latências das ondas. Entretanto, os resultados verificados não são absolutamente concordantes entre si, com variações nas principais ondas em que as diferenças são encontradas. Tais diferenças devem ser levadas em consideração ao se avaliar o resultado de PEATE a fim de evitar diagnósticos inadequados. Neste sentido, o presente trabalho objetiva contribuir para estes estudos, agregando novos dados para melhor identificação e análise das possíveis diferenças entre as ondas observadas em indivíduos dos sexos feminino e masculino.
Resumo-No presente estudo teve-se como objetivo avaliar os efeitos de música favorita e desgostada autosselecionadas pelos voluntários em sua atividade encefálica. Para isso, utilizou-se o EEG, onde atrav és da análise dos eletrodos da região frontal F3 e F4 foi possível por meio da autocorrelação e da análise bidimensional verificar, através do agrupamento entre gênero feminino e masculino, se há diferenças significativas conforme a interpretação subjetiva. Verificou-se, por fim, que os indivíduos homens são mais sensíveis à transição silênciomúsica e que a estimulação musical da região frontal é independente se a estimulação é a música favorita ou desgostada.
