In the present communication the results of a quantitative calculation of Davydov splittings for vibrational levels in crystals containing complex ions are given for the first time. This calculation is based on the scheme of a simultaneous evaluation of the dipole-dipole interaction and short-range forces existing between molecules before their vibrational excitation. The parameters of the dipole-dipole interaction were determined by means of a dispersion analysis of polarized infrared reflection spectra; the parameters of a short-range Born-Mayer potential were taken in accordance with the calculations and experimental data for energy and thermodynamic characteristics of crystals containing complex ions
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
