The problem of preserving and developing traditions in visual arts is debatable due to ambiguous interpretation of the term “tradition” and multiplicity of views on the role of traditional art in modern artistic process. The article analyses the role of ethnic traditions in the formation and development of professional visual arts of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that the author examines the development of the Kabardino-Balkarian visual arts in historical dynamics (the 1960s - the beginning of the XXI century) and applies the culturological approach to the problems of preserving ethnic traditions in modern art. It is shown that the use of folk poetics helps to create a national artistic image both in the Soviet period realistic art and in the modern avant-garde.
Theoretical understanding of the role of ethnic tradi-tions in the ethnic identity formation, the organiza-tion of cultural space, the development of a meth-odology for their study in various socio-cultural conditions are of particular relevance in modern society. The processes of glocalization, regionaliza-tion of cultural space are aimed at preserving the uniqueness of ethnic cultures through the study and promotion of the best national traditions in ma-terial and spiritual culture. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of ethnic traditions in the cultural genesis of the peoples of the North Cauca-sus. The following tasks are being solved: the study of ethnic traditions as a mechanism for transferring socio-cultural experience in various historical and cultural conditions, as well as the study of the re-gional cultural space in the context of the communi-cative functions of ethnic culture. The scientific novelty of the study is provided due to the method-ology of historical cultural studies, which explores both macrodynamic historical and cultural process-es and core microdynamic stages of cultural for-mation.
Due to active globalization processes that form single information space intertext becomes spiritual space of cultural memory. Spiritual and moral issues in intertext are developed at several levels: mythological, religious, moral and ethical ones. Modern literature refers to folklore subjects and traditional values that act as a code of ethnic identification, the basis of a cultural matrix. The novelty of the study is determined by the culturological approach to the analysis of intertext as an important phenomenon representing both ethnic and universal human spiritual values.

В художественных текстах о Великой Отече-ственной войне особое значение имеет тема героики военного и трудового подвига, ко-торая находит отражение в различных жанрах литературы и искусства. Художественные тексты, насыщенные героическими образами и событиями, формируют историческую память, национальное самосознание и гражданскую идентичность. С течением времени произведения на тему Великой Отечественной войны приобретают все большую цен-ность как памятники историческому подвигу советского народа. В данной статье рас-сматриваются процессы развития военно-исторической тематики в изобразительном искусстве Кабардино-Балкарии, выявляются основные направления и характерные чер-ты раскрытия темы в различных жанрах живописи. В настоящий период тема войны и подвига во имя мирной жизни последующих поколений по-прежнему не теряет своей актуальности, наполняясь новым содержанием, новыми подходами и идеями.Ключевые слова: художественный текст, живопись, тема Великой Отечественной войны, культурная память, историческое самосознание
